                How to Stack and Maintain Withered on Enemies

                The challenge is not simply applying Withered-it’s keeping it stacked. With only a base duration of 2 seconds, maintaining high stacks requires consistency and speed.

                Here are the most effective methods.

                1.Increase Attack or Cast Speed

                  Skills like Toxic Rain, Blade Vortex, Kinetic Blast, or minions with Withering Touch will stack Withered faster with high attack/cast speed.

                  2.Increase Duration

                    Modifiers such as increased skill effect duration or ascendancies like Occultist can extend the lifespan of Withered stacks, making them much easier to maintain in long fights.

                    3.Apply Withered From Multiple Sources

                      Newer players often rely on only one skill to apply Withered. But stacking from multiple sources-such as a skill gem + unique item + totem-dramatically improves consistency.

                      4.Use Occultist for Automatic Withered Stacking

                        For Witch players, the Withering Presence ascendancy node:

                        Applies Withered every second
                        Lasts for 15 seconds
                        Requires no input from the player

                        This is one of the easiest ways to keep permanent max stacks on bosses.

                        Withered acts as a pseudo-resistance shield, allowing you to punch through high chaos-resistant monsters-even though it does not directly reduce chaos resistance. Instead, it increases damage taken, which effectively overrides resistance problems.
